Is a protocol for old mobile phones in the late 90's into 2000's. It's a obsalte in general cyberspace orther than some hard core feature phone user or retro tech nerds.
Using GPRS or CSD the phone could connect to a gateway. The gateway would connect to a website and fetch data in wml or later on xhtml. Eventualy 2G was replaced with 3G and phones
were more powerful meaning that full on html sites or application (after the Iphone) replace them. Applications did exsit but phone had little storage so orther than small games
and bloat-ware apps were not common (they were writtern in Java). WML or wireless markup langue was the way sites were made. They were basic text and images. although WML can use css due to the computing power of phones then wasn't borthered there have been broswer than offer support for WML but now day's it's generaly not supported. But is taught at
some schools and online. WML use cards as a web page and is comparable to html.
WAP as in the mobile web form shouldn't be confused. With the networking term. Wireless Acesses Point is networkinh hardware that allows wifi enabled devices to wirelessly connect to a switch or a routor. For example my school have a small white box in every room what allows the chromebooks to have signal in every part of the school. Almost. There used in local area networks LAN.
